Neue Philharmonie München

NEUE PHILHARMONIE MÜNCHEN (NPhM) was founded in the year 2005 and has since then developed into a very respected semiprofessional orchestra in the Munich region. The promotion of young musicians by experienced soloists and experts is part of the concept of Musikwerkstatt Jugend e.V.

NEUE PHILHARMONIE MÜNCHEN regulär performs in the “Herkulessaal der Münchner Residenz”, in the Kultursaal Sillian (Austria), in the Stadtsaal Fürstenfeldbruck, in the Loisachhalle Wolfratshausen and the Stadthalle Kassel. In March 2020, the NEUE PHILHARMONIE MÜNCHEN celebrated its 15th anniversary with three big special concerts. In March 2025 the NEUE PHILHARMONIE MÜNCHEN becomes 20 years old. 

Concert tours have taken the NEUE PHILHARMONIE MÜNCHEN to Italy, France, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Azerbaijan and China. Under the direction of its chief conductor Fuad Ibrahimov (also chief conductor of the Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra and the Baku Chamber Orchestra, the orchestra has performed in cities such as Baku, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Beijing. 

NEUE PHILHARMONIE MÜNCHEN is supported and taught by members of the Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Bavarian State Orchestra and experienced University Professors.


Fuad Ibrahimov, Chief conductor

Since November 2014 Fuad Ibrahimov is a conductor of the State Symphony Orchestra of Azerbaijan, principal conductor of the New Philharmonic Orchestra of Munich and the Baku Chamber Orchestra. 

In his still young conducting career, he has already conducted the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (London), Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse (France), Nord Czech Philharmonic, the MDR Symphony Orchestra (Leipzig), the Staatskapelle Halle, the Göttingen and Nuremberg Symphony Orchestras, the Philharmonie Südwestfalen, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Kritisches Orchester® Berlin, which is made up of musicians from orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Staatskapelle Berlin and the Staatskapelle Dresden. In 2012, he conducted his first independent opera production with the Cologne Gürzenich Orchestra at the Cologne Opera as a guest conductor. Between 2013 and 2015, he has already been re-invited to conduct the Cologne Gürzenich Orchestra. In June 2011, he was invited by Maestro Fabio Luisi to the “Pacific Music Festival” in Japan. 

Fuad Ibrahimov was born in 1982 in Shusha, Azerbaijan. He got his first job as a violist in the Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra at the age of 15. At the same time, he began his viola studies at the local music academy. After graduating in 2002, he continued his studies at the Cologne University of Music in the class of Prof. Rainer Moog. After obtaining his soloist diploma, he continued his studies from 2006 in the conducting class of Prof. Michael Luig and passed his conducting diploma examination in 2011 with the highest grade. 

During this time, Ibrahimov received a scholarship from the Friends of Azerbaijani Culture Foundation and the Dr. Carl Dörcken-Werner Richard Foundation and performed concerts in numerous German cities under the auspices of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation. In 2010, he also received a special prize from the DAAD, which was awarded to particularly talented foreign students. Since his childhood, Fuad Ibrahimov has performed nationally and internationally as a soloist and as a member of various chamber ensembles and orchestras. 

Significantly inspired by masterclasses with Mstyslav Rostropovich, among others, who had a particular influence on him, he also placed a special focus on working with highly talented young musicians early on in his own conducting career. He first took part in the “Young Euro Classic” festival in Berlin in 2008 with the state-run “Young Philharmonic Orchestra of Azerbaijan”, which was founded on his initiative. In 2010, he supervised a joint project between German music schools and the Venezuelan “El Sistema” and worked in Venezuela with the “Sinfonica” of the federal state of Guárico, among others.

Since 2013, he has received the Presidential Scholarship of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In March 2017, Fuad Ibrahimov was awarded an Order of Merit for Cultural Commitment by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 

In 2018, he won the Evgeny Svetlanov International Conducting Competition in Paris.
